At 5:30pm on Wednesday the 18th of July the Explorers and Leaders of Wild Wolf ESU gathered for the (second!) most fantastic event in the Wild Wolf calendar – our Birthday BBQ! This event really puts the Wild in Wild Wolf – it involves legendary parties long into the night, and —
…Just kidding; the Wild Wolf Birthday party is a yearly occasion where the whole Unit comes together to celebrate the Unit and what we’ve done in the year, with good company, good food, and (luckily!) good weather! We have just recently acquired a minibus – a kind donation from the 201st Islington, and so the aim of this year’s Birthday BBQ was to do a little fundraising as well; to renovate it and try and cover its maintenance costs for this year. So at 5:30pm at Scout Park we were setting up a multitude of ladders in an order to climb the entire height of the National 3 Peaks combined: Ben Nevis, Snowdon and Scafell Pike. Not only did we achieve this, with the help of our fantastic and enthusiastic Explorers, Leaders, parents and other friends of the unit, but we did it so quickly we managed to instead climb the entire height of Mount Everest, 8,848m!
Unfortunately, we didn’t reach our fundraising goal, and so if any Explorers want to continue to go out and collect sponsorships for our ladder challenge then they would be much welcomed!
We want to say a big thank you to everyone who came along, climbed some ladders, supported the Unit, made a donation, or enjoyed our barbeque, we hope you had as a fantastic time as we did celebrating nine incredible years of Wild Wolf Explorer Scout Unit.
